511mn.org Identity Guidelines

The customized 511mn.org text block is designed to be used in conjunction with the national 511 logo to exhibit participation in a national 511 effort. The national 511 logo and the addition of 511mn.org is the key element of the identity and, therefore, its usage must be consistent. It must never be recreated, set in type, picked up from previous printed materials or altered in any way. The national 511 logo may be used alone when application is needed. The national standards which can be obtained at http://www.itsa.org/511Logos.html must be followed.

This logo consists of two components: the National 511 identity and the 511mn.org type, specific to Minnesota. The two components are not required to be used together. They may be used separately.

There are three approved versions of the 511mn.org logo:

National 511 logo (single)
1)    One-color
This is the preferred usage of the signature. The key is to maintain consistency in color balance and visual match.

      The approved colors are:
      Pantone 293
      -or-
      BLACK

2)    Four-color Process
This may be used when actual Pantone 293 cannot be used. When used in this form, colors are to be printed with a color match to the Pantone equivalents. Use the example shown or Pantone Color Match System to ensure an accurate color match.

      The four-color equivalent
      for Pantone 293 is:
      100% cyan, 56% magenta,
      0% yellow and 0% black

3)    One-color (Reversed)
WHITE REVERSED is the only application that is approved when the signature is placed on a colored field. A clearance that matches the height of 2x the smaller 5 is to be applied to assure readability.

Application
To ensure that the 511mn.org logo is prominent and used appropriately in all communications materials, several requirements must be met.

  • Control Area
The signature must be isolated from all other elements, by surrounding it with space that is free of text or intrusive graphics. The minimum space is equal to 2x the height of the 5 in 511mn.org type area.

  • Logo Breakdown Usage
The logo may not be separated when used in the contents of the State of Minnesota or with Mn/DOT. The only usage of the logo in a single fashion is when addressing 511 as a national program and you can obtain logos and guidelines at www.itsa.org/511Logos.html

  • Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) and Moving Minnesota Guideline application
Mn/DOT’s signature should be included on applications in conjunction with the 511mn.org logo, but does not need to be clustered directly with the identity. Mn/DOT’s signature clearly identifies the relationship with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

For additional information on the Minnesota Department of Transportation Moving Minnesota signature guidelines please contact Teresa Winger at 651-296-0841.

Typography Usage
The 511mn.org logo has been customized using the typeface Franklin Gothic Demi Italic and should not be recreated. Franklin Gothic Demi Italic and its variations may be used as an accompanying typeface for headlines, body text and supportive text. Info and Times and its variations may also be used as an alternative or supporting typeface.
